When BOB leaves UPS in January for the NFL.

  • PSUJT$ said...

Ya then maybe you guys won't lose to YSU and UConn. You Pitt fans are pathetic! You're just mad that PSU hired a great coach and you got stuck with Paul Chryst, who looks completely lost on the sideline and has never heard of a halftime adjustment. Pitt will probably play in the same number of bowl games PSU will over the next 4 years. Good luck getting left in the ACC aka the Big Least Part II after the other conferences are done raiding it for the few decent teams! Can't wait to beat the crap outta Pitt in a few years in Heinz field when it'll be full of PSU fans!

    Or Ohio and Virginia.

Serious question, why do you care so much about Pitt football?

Pitt sucks. Most of us get it. The problem lies in the fact that you don't realize PSU sucks too...

    Congrats on adding Rutgers.

  • I think Greg Schiano may have changed everything as far as the thinking of the NFL on college coaches. Couldn't believe when TB hired him. But now he's winning games.

The former Rutger's coach's success - this is Greg Schiano, for crying out loud - has to have other NFL teams thinking that other college coaches, especially ones with some NFL experience, can do the job.

    Go Pitt.

  • PSU will never make any noise in the Big Ten so they have to take out their anger on us. I don't care enough to mind .. so they can go nuts. Enjoy being angry. I'm numb to the lameness of sports.

  • Couple points.

    1. Obrien was a good hire. He has done much better than I thought he would.

    2. There are several NFL jobs that will be open and obrien will fill 1 of them.

    3. Schiano has helped college coaches.

    4. Psu will not get golden. And will likely have to settle for a coach with success at a lower level school.

Well said...I agree on all points here.

Yes, but will you bring a cardboard cutout of JoePa? Will you rape kids? Will you dress up like John Gacy Clownlike and perform "magic acts". Will you bring the redheaded step child with you too? Amendola and his 17 year old girlfriend? And his cohort who texted coeds that he wanted laid.

You know, seriously, you can say what you want about our football team and fans, but you people are pretty friggin effed up in Happy Valley. Really.

Funny, back in January, Pitt fans laughed when PSU hired a no-name coach and now 11 months later, Pitt fans are crossing their fingers and praying that O'brien leaves to take a NFL job. I guess PSU made a good hire.

^^This is not true. No one laughed. I thought at the time he was a great hire. An asst offense coach from New England, BoB has done a great job and deserves much credit.

Now that psu's last game looms ahead the reality of not playing in any real meaningful post regular season game in their life-times will smack the younger players upside the head like an iron skillet.

Now add in the fact that BoB is a risk of leaving. Have a couple of Greyhound buses ready and waiting the great exodus from state (riot city) college. In the near future you will see the effects of the sanctions imposed on the pedo enablers U.

While I think he is an NFL prospect, I don't see it for at least 2-3 years for 2 reasons.

    1. What NFL team is going to take a 6-4 D1 coach with no HC experience in the NFL?

    2. That buyout has to come down and it only does when years come off of it. Unless Jerry Jones is forking the bill. No way do the desperate small markets like Buffalo or Cleveland pump that kind of money.

    This.

    Buyout is too big.

For those talking about Golden and Munchak, they already said no to PSU. Golden got pissed when we told him no the second time when Joe got fired. Munchak had a good thing going at Tennessee, and wanted to be an NFL HC more than a CFB HC.

Maybe things have changed for Munchak, but I doubt Golden changes his mind.

Which NFL job opening is going to want to pay BOB's buyout?

  • Pitt fans used to rip on Schiano. I would have loved if he was the one who replaced Walt. I thought he was a great coach in college.

  • Texas. How have you been? You know, you are the first and only psu student or fan I have ever liked. I wish you well but the upcoming ride is going to be rocky for psu.

Where will you settle down in life. Back to the south-central part of the country? What and how do you describe your experience in state college and Pa, in general to your folks back home? I'm serious, this kind of human interest stuff is a great interest to me. Catch you later my friend.

    waltspappy

  • I remember when Howland signed that extension with Pitt and had that comment that sounded something like "The buyout ensures that I'll be here for a long time."

I know it's not BOB buyout money, but when has a coached stayed somewhere because of the buyout being too large? It doesn't happen. Something is always worked out.

Dude you are one step from becoming Sean Miller Fan part deux. Lighten up with the negativity. And oh btw your post on dropping down to Div2 in football was arguably the dumbest god damned post of the year.

    TL,

I know you guys aren't used to this...but "buyouts" in coaches contracts are as enforceable as the contracts that are signed. Meaning....they aren't. They are also as enforceable or at least negotiable as conference exit fees.

    owtahear

  • You think after all these years people would realize buyouts are only a bargaining chip....especially for coaching jobs.

True enough. It's not even a worry in the NFL. Let alone college.

Bieber was in Pittsburgh last nite. I won't say he was performing because I hate the punk. Is he old enough to beat up yet? "Old man pummels Bieber".

Especially in the context of the scandal and sanctions. You really think UPS wants to open that scab again in court. The buyout will be negotiated down. UPS CANNOT LITIGATE THE BUYOUT

if you are offended by a post, you need a life.

    1. I'm making a generalized observation, one that I've posted in the past.

    2. I never said we should drop to div2, diaa, d3, naia, etc. If you can't read, than I'll throw you a bone on this one..

Much appreciated PITTmaninoc. I'm blessed. A little tidbit. Love is at it's best when it's not earned but given unconditionally. Think about. Be yourself and never look back. We are what we are.
