I like your enthusiasm on trying to grow this place. But man, that thread title is a bit weird. I do see what you're doing tho.

Reed is an impressive guy. If you've ever seen his picture in full uniform you just reflexly salute. If the girls in Cartagena had seen him he wouldn't have had to pay.

I had a phone conversation with Pappy the other day. He had to take a wiz and so handed the phone to his wife. I asked her her initial impression of Pappy on their first date and she told me she thought he was "so hot". It took me by surprise. At first I thought she said, "so nuts".
So we have two "hot krauts" on the board. Hasselhoff has competition.

TSOS(the shitty other site) can go f**k itself. They've gone after BG who was a huge contributor to their early success. They've attacked him as a bad family man when the opposite is true. They've attacked his ethnicity. I've seen Reed, BearSenior(a guy in his 70's), Ghost and many others who were level headed, attacked. Me? I gave as much or more than I got. I understand the emotions brought on by political discussion.

It was at my family's insistence that I never post there again. I advised them that I was thinking of driving from Seattle to the Burgh for a game. They asked me why I wanted to drive rather than fly. I told them that there were a couple of items I couldn't take on a plane- and I'm not talking pot.

The ignorance combined with hubris there is appalling. I remember posting that 1.5 to 2 million Christians had been killed by Muslims in the last 10-15 years. Some shmuck called me a liar. My wife and daughter saw that and screamed in unison--ever hear of the Sudan, asshole? Another young commie who thinks he's an intellectual and a buff ladykiller when asked what we could do to get out of our economic doldrums suggested we raise corporate income taxes. This guy claimed to be a corporate mogul, selling sports paraphernalia. Well Stuie, we already have the world's highest corporate income tax- why the f**k do you think corporations are setting up overseas and taking American jobs with them.
I could go on and on. The anti-Italian and anti-Semitic shit has no place on a board representing a great university.

The amazing thing is that in the past 10 years there are lots and I mean lots of laws passed to curb internet harrassment , defamation and /or bullying. Some of these guys have gone over the line and could find themselves on the wrong end of either a civil or criminal action.The personal attacks. the defamatory comments etc put them at serious legal risk. I am just glad Greg hooked us up with this site and that we can keep that chit off this Board.

There is very little actual football talk on ITH any longer and when a good thread is started it quickly devolves into the ridiculous. As anyone can tell I like to get into detailed discussions about PITT football and sometimes purposely play Devil's Advocate to generate conversation.

That goes over like a lead balloon on that site now. A few years back it was OK and there would be good disagreements going on. Now if you disagree with someone and, heaven forbid, use facts to prove your point you get personally insulted right away.

Personally I don't mind at all when I read something by a poster that is contrary to my opinion/belief as long as it is presented in a way that makes me think. I change my mind on issues all the time when presented with viewpoints I may not have had before. Spirited back and forth is great.

80 and I do this regularly on here as do other posters. But on ITH the posters only see things in black & white. If you say Sunseri has had a good completion percentage that means you want him to be the starter; if you think Baldwin could have played better at PITT you are a racist, if you give Todd Graham credit for anything you're a bad PITT fan, etc...

I know that a website like this depends on poster and member volume but I'd be happy if it stayed small like it is now.
