Way to go Paul!

  • Didn't compromise and in the end tasted some success. Really important you made it to a bowl. You did it while somewhat hamstrung by a suspect oline and qb. There were some bumps...but in the end I think we should be pleased.

  • Hey.....let's knock on wood. But you can argue this is our best December since 2008. Going bowling, with a head coach, two must win games....some momentum on the recruiting trail.

    YAY!!!! Finally.

  • I'm pleased with the thought of better things to come in future seasons. I haven't had that feeling at the end of a season for a long time.

  • It's going to be nice going into the recruiting season without worrying how we're going to patch it together. If we end up taking 29, we'll instead be wondering just how fast the staff can flip the roster to their own people.

  • Ya no doubt. Need some guys on o to step up. Really like where the defense finished. When you have great corners it opens up a gameplan.

  • Yeah, I'm pleased with the way we finished the season. PC grew as a coach and you could tell in his sideline demeanor as well. He looks more comfortable and was showing a bit of fire.

Kudos to the defensive staff as well. They've been pretty solid and have shown much improvement. Tackling was great tonight.

  • Thought it was a good day at the shop tonight. Just makes you wonder what could have been had we beaten YSU, Cuse, UCONN and ND. All games that we so winnable.

They would have been 10-2 instead of 6-6.

We probably would have been heading to the BCS game with the win over ND as we would have won the 3 or 4 way tie at the top of the Big East I believe.

  • No kidding. But what bowl would we have rec'd at 10-2 and a win over ND.

  • I say, "Hey dad, how do you like your son now"! GREAT JOB PC!! Bowl YA!! Let's kick some hoopie asses!!

I agree about YSU and ND. I thought Syracuse beat us pretty soundly if. Am being invest. UCONN was a game where we looked like we didn't even care to be on the field that day. I think 8-4 wouldn't have been too far of a stretch had we won against YSU and ND. We absolutely should have beaten ND without question.

  • Hey MO. Whats Up?

    waltspappy

  • He is just a very easy coach to root for. Especially after the last slime ball we had in here. He will really gain some fan momentum going into next year if he can win the big recruiting battles that he has left.

    Poonugget

  • It's exciting to think what he'll do with a legit QB rather than Stats Sunseri.

I think Pittt will make some noise in the ACC next year. None of the teams stands out that Pitt can't beat.

Just enjoying the victory, maybe a little too much lol. What do you think about year one of PC?

    Motown165133

  • I was talking to a friend of mine who follows all sports very closely (he bets everything) and I asked him what he thought about Pitt in a bowl. He said he's taking Pitt no matter the opponent or spread. He said Pitt is peaking at the right time (minus uconn) and gave #1 their best game, how can you not?

I had to agree with him and was pleasantly suprised to hear a friend of mine say that. Normally they dump on Pitt for being under achievers, so it was nice to get this from an unbiased opinon.

Hey - I just posted some of Sunseri's stats...

    rkohberger

  • I think Chryst did a good job given the talent level he was handed and due to the fact that he was a rookie HC.

He inherited upperclassmen from 8-5 and 6-7 teams, and yes, he inherited a totally inconsistent QB also which must have driven him crazy. I'm sure it can't be easy to formulate offensive gameplans against opponents who can't be relied on to complete the same task two times in a row,

Yes reason for optimism. This team for the first time in years finished strongNow we need stability and some good pick ups before feb signing day

Naturaklllty next year you will have the Tino the turtle apologists Reed and Steel beating down on the new qb . Bringing out the stat card to demo to us how lucky we were to have Santino. The fans know better.

    pittmaninoc

  • It will be interesting to watch the QB position next year for sure. As even the announcers were indicating that part of TIno's numbers (at least the lack of Picks) were related to him being overly conservative and taking sacks rather than throwing the ball. Tino rarely ever tried to force the ball, which is a good thing but also had to have guys wide open in order to throw the ball Im sure the new guy will have more pics but I think sacks will go down and we'll have many more positive plays out of the position. If Voytek or Chapman pay, we'll finally have a QB MAKE PLAYS rather than simply manage the game. The interesting thing will be to see how well PC can coach em up to limit the negative plays. TIno didnt turn the ball over much but his penchant for turtling killed drives far too often especially in tight games

No - I'll be quite happy to have Sunseri move on and to have a new face behind center.

My point is that you, and others, can't find it in you to give the young man one iota of credit no matter what he's done, which is ludicrous.

In case you hadn't noticed I find it funny how some PITT fans react to seeing those stats in print - a tweaking of the collective noses so to say. Be honest - if Sunseri throws for over 192 yards in our bowl game it will chap your ass to see his name ahead of Marino's. I think its ironic, that's all.

Also, I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that I'd be 'beating down' on the new QB. I suppose you haven't been on these boards too long but my actions in regards to Sunseri, Stull and Bostick before him is that I'm generally supportive of whoever the PITT QB is. But I also think they should be benched if not playing well either as long as there is a viable back-up.

That wasn't the case this year so I wasn't screaming for Sunseri to get yanked. But I have in the past. BTW - in case you actually believe that I am an apologist for Sunseri here are two past articles I wrote for a blog where I criticize Sunseri pretty strongly

Very rocky at best. Although the bowl game helps with recruiting and the extra practices are a plus. I like HCPC but would like to see some small changes at some asst. spots. I'm changing my mind on huxtable though. PITT's defense looked good and A Donald put on a Green, Jackson, and or Walker type of performance.
