WPIAL Finals

  • are the times correct that I see listed on Root Sports?

Since when is the AAAA final the 2nd game?

  • I always think the AA and A games are the best, I think they were hoping that Foster/Central Valley would make it to be the primetime game

  • They generally are the most competitive. I can't wait to see what Shai does against the Quips.

  • I don't know if this is correct, but I have heard that games times will be changing every year because of the field. Many Quad A people think it is unfair to play on a worn down field to decide their champion.

  • Actually it had to do with the Pens. I believe the Pens were scheduled to play that night and sorry folks, the Pens draw better ratings than all 8 of the WPIAL HS teams combined times 5.

So they decided instead of tape delaying what would likely have been the biggest draw, move it up and play early.

Personally, looking forward to seeing Quippa and Washington with the Class of 2014 studs the most.

  • I think I posted a shorter version of this in another thread.

AAAA are the biggest schools with the biggest fan bases & NA is a steamroller right now.
AA, the Quips are a powerhouse that's blowing out everyone they meet, has at least 2 1-A Jr. prospects & has an intriguing match-up with McKenzie & Washington.
A, Clairton is also a powerhouse, blowing out teams with multiple 1-A prospects with a state-record winning streak on the line.

Yet the night cap is the AAA game, with almost none of the inherent interest of the other games? Weird. I likely would've put the AA last.

On a related note, the temps are supposed to drop from Thursday to Saturday. Hope there's not a lot of rain that would make the field a mess for Saturday.

  • I'm a Seneca Valley Raider fan and even though we may never beat North Allegheny our team is so much more exciting to watch. They just have way more size on the lines and at RB. Bob is Forrest Barnes getting any interest from the bigger schools?

  • Animus, West A will crush West Mifflin

I figured they moved the games a little earlier because they need to clean up afterwards for the Pitt game on Saturday. Guess not.

animus. I applaud your loyalty from the Upper Mon-Valley. I agree with the Clairton pick and I think West Mifflin will keep the game close, it could go either way.

Give me 28 points and I'll take Washington though. That team is for real. Not saying they will win but the Quips will know they where in a real football game.
