Tony Barnhardt on how the ACC can fix it's football reputation

  • Is the ACC doomed in football? Not if it follows these five steps - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com News, Scores, Stats, Schedule and BCS Rankings

What happened to the ACC we used to know? Where's the spirit? The guts? Tony Barnhart says nothing is over, despite all the Florida State fuss. If the ACC wants to stay relevant in football, here's the plan.

  • I still cant see FSU splitting unless it's the SEC. If they do...oh well. How many ACC championships have they won in the last 10 years?

  • It sounds crazy to me. Fla Sate moving out to the, what's that conference name again? FSU can't win in the ACC, let alone that conference Texas owns with Oklahoma the second mortgage holder.

Keep it real. Florida State hasn't done jack for many years now. They hold NO cards. The SEC is another story all together.

  • You know, maybe some football schools like Florida State, Miami, Clemson, etc, have had enough of the basketball schools ruling the roost?
How many acc basketball tournaments have been in the state of Florida, compared to how many have been in the state of North Carolina, for example?
I have not heard that or read it but if it were true, it would not surprise me.
Maybe FSU just wants to shake things up a little and show everybody else that they are in the ACC too and can make some waves.

Not a bad point at all Steve. If you really take a close look right now at Fla State. They ain't bringing much to the table but big crowds on Saturday's. Oh did I just tear down my own argument?

Steve, I thought this was all about football money? What do basketball tournament locations have to do with it?

It's all patent inferiority complexes of fans whose teams have sucked for a decade pointing the finger everywhere but inward. People do realize the ACC football championship was played in Jacksonville and Tampa, don't they? Who was that for? Miami was brought in to appease FSU. Pitt and SU were football moves, despite what doofuses that can't seem to find Google on the internet want to think.

You know how stupid the complaints about "ACC officials" sound? And now Swofford is single highhandedly responsible for the worst media contract in US history all to keep his son at some mediocre position at Raycom. It's a bunch of moronic nonsense. Seriously, it makes the worst of Pitt posters seem like rocket scientists.

  • Along the same subject line Paco. Who is responsible for PITT being in the ACC right now? A question that may be forever asked.

    waltspappy

  • Nordenberg, Cochran, and Pederson.

The last thing you want is instability in the Chancellor's and AD office when you have this conference bs whirling around.

Very good point Paco. I'm just not so sure that PITT isn't already suffering from the very lack of stability you talk about. I have zero faith in the administration what so ever. IMO

Once again. Very great point! Take it for what's it's worth.

  • we should quit the acc and join the WAC.

Your logic is FSU couldn't win the conference in the Big 12 but if they move to the SEC they could win it all? That makes zero sense.

Wrong Coastal. I'm saying losing in the SEC is better than losing in the big 12. FSU is losing everywhere, irregardless.

Playing in the SEC will keep the Fla kids at home. Playing in Ames? Forget about it.
