Scandal Subtopic: NCAA death penalty, sanctions, & other fallout

Wetzel rips Spanier and college presidents' hypocrisy...remember Curtis Enis' suit?

that Wetzel piece is a great article. Aggressive tutoring indeed. Remember the poster on TOS that had a friend fired from a PSU tutoring position because he or she wouldn't do the work for a player? I hope these people start coming forward and pull more layers off of this onion.

Yeah, at least Miami circa '87 was comparatively honest about who they were. There were no pretenses.

Penn State's legal liability in the Sandusky case could get much heavier

After the shocking details of Jerry Sandusky's child sexual abuse, after the meticulously documented cover-up by university leaders of his crimes, could Pennsylvania State University's legal exposure get any worse?

  • By the way, they officially changed the title of "Paternoville" to "Nittanyville" - why??? I thought their idol is innocent!

Gotta love the Paterno family doing their own investigation of the Freeh Report...that's like OJ searching for the real killer...

  • ^^LOL. What was it that Chris Rock said about OJ looking for the "real killer" He's not on a golf course or hiding between a white woman's tits. Investigation over.tongue

It is your duty to get him to bring the truth out! Have him contact the NCAA.

  • Mark Emmert: Death Penalty is on the table.

    Penn State Death Penalty (Croweblog)

The Penn State football program should be silenced for at least 14 years. It's as plain as the nose on Joe Paterno's face.

  • Some key things he said that indicate to me they will bring the hammer down............

"This is as systemic, a cultural problem as it is a football problem."

"We’ll have to figure out exactly what the right penalties are," Emmert told Smiley. "I don’t know that past precedent makes particularly good sense in this case because it’s really an unprecedented problem."

Again the key is he thinks this IS A FOOTBALL Problem and its an UNPRECEDENTED PROBLEM!!!!! With wording like that it doesnt sound like a slap on the wrist is in order.

HE also said the NCAA is at a time where they have the courage to DO THE RIGHT THING.

I say 2 years MIN..........5 years would be appropriate.

He really didn't say anything that wasn't in the letter of inquiry that they sent back in November....and that is probably all he is able to say.

The VIP thread was meant to be an off-shoot of the Dorian Johnson recruit thread. Stuff related to the scandal, but to be kept in house, or away from the eyes of rivals.

The other is just a continuation of the previously pinned thread. Just an overall ongoing discussion of the scandal.

In taking pappy's suggestion to try to organize things a little, I notice one of the most sizable chunks of scandal topics was about NCAA sanctions and the death penalty, so I also created this subtopic thread to see how having some subtopics would work. Perhaps we won't need it. But in any case, I am at least using it to track external articles related to the topic. If nothing else you can find plenty of articles to back up any argument for the NCAA to swing a hammer. (and hey, its the only place on the web that I know of collecting them together)

I was considering other subtopic threads related to discussions of Penn State cult culture or a Paterno-specific one. I'm not sure if we need that many subtopic threads though. It's just to try it out, but I also don't want to swell the number of pinned threads too much.

The sad thing is that Penn State Mods can jump right in here, so the privacy isn't as it should be. No offense, just the hand we're dealt.

That's my thought. Alot of defensive PSU posters have been on here and the TOSses, but now.....hardly any, and those who have are the most rational Nitters.

  • Its amazing how the entire country sees the evil that was allowed to run through PSU. I was driving through Charlotte today and the afternoon talk show was just killing PSU and Paterno. Both said the death penalty was the only option, they just argued over when it should start...this fall or next.

It is impossible to cancel the season this year.

And that is actually the worse case scenario for PSU because they are just going to get hammered every game they're in by protesters or opposing fans and the media...it will be a constant reminder.

And then after the fervor dies down a little, if they death penalty gets wielded, they won't be on tv anyway.

If they were smart they would've suspended football operations after the Nebraska game, if not before, and concentrated on an outside national search for a new president...not a football coach. But we know where their priorities are.

I like the VIP threads then we don't get the contrarians ( asshats like Souf or the Nitter flamers). Keep it coming boys UPS is going to get hammered.

CP remember the Nebraska game was the famous." Let the healing begin.". as uttered by Tom Bradley and repeated by asshat ron Cook.
