If TEO wins

  • it will be the biggest joke since Jason White won over Larry Fitz. TEO isnt in the top 10 for any of the stats for LBs outside of interceptions. MOst over hyped player in the country. If the dude played for any other school people would be saying TEO who?

I am so sick of the ND hype Machine and hope Bama steam rolls them.

  • It's Notre Dame, what do you expect?
when you play for the most-overhyped team in the country, you get the benefit of being an over-hyped player.
Even a bigger joke about Larry Fitz not winning was that certain pittsburgh voters didnt vote for hm because they thought it would have been favoritism,
if he's the best player, he should get the votes, no matter where he's from or who's voting for him,
that's ok, Fitz got the last laugh every time he pulls up to the gas station in his ferarri and gas station attendant Jason White pumps the gas for him.

  • The fact that Hugh Green didn't get it as a dominant defender is a main reason I don't want him to win this. However, his background "inspirational" story might put him over the top.

However, he was INVISIBLE against Pitt this season. Remember the one bad game that Fitz had vs. Miami which knocked him out of the running for the Heisman? Same should apply to T'eo. I'm sure they're using this against Klein and his one bad game.

  • dont worry he has no shot of winning. Manziel is your Heisman.

    Last night books had
    Manziel -3000
Teo and Klein plus money to win the Heisman

those odds arent there unless it has already been determined

  • Teo is good, let's not say he sucks and didn't help ND win a lot........but I agree, he's not the best player in the country, which is what the award is. He won the LB award and he deserved it. Save the Heisman for the best player.......Manziel.

    Manziel will win 2 Heismans.

Give Green the 1980 Heisman if T'eo wins it. Green had 10X the effect on a game than this ND "inspiration"

The rock knows. It was the same story in the Presidential election. At a time when all the news stations and polls said it was a dead heat, the Vegas line was Obama-360, Romney +260. Rock----It sounds like you've been around the block. I've been around the block too. It's because I can't remember where I live.

Disagree. He was 59th in total tackles, not even in the top 100 in solo tackles, tackles for loss. Led LBs in PIcks...........

A great LB should dominate the tackle stats and hes not even in the top 50 in the country.

Like I said, if he didnt play for ND he wouldnt even be mentioned as a great LB.

  • thank you im not the only one that feels this way. jarvis jones should have won the linebacker award. 22 tfls as a linebacker? ridiculous. as for teo, todd thomas has similar per game tackle numbers. teo averages 8.6 tackles per game. i swear scott mckillop averaged like 15 for pitt one year? anyways, teo is a very good middle linebacker but the fact that he got to nbew york over marquis lee and tavon austin is just despicable

  • while I don't think Teo should win the Heisman, you guys need to stop with the tackle/tackle for loss rankings. ND has the 6th rated defense in the country which means their defense was excellent with getting the other teams offenses off the field. Less time on the field will mean less tackles and tackles for loss for a guy like Teo. I bet many of the LBs that are higher on the tackles list probably played 100-200 more defensive snaps than Teo did this season. Plus, Teo plays on a team that has multiple good players on their defense. I've seen LBs get an insane amount of tackles because they are about the only decent player on their teams defense(like the BC LB last year).

Sorry. Teo is not a dominant player. He did nothing against Pitt. Just about every Heisman candidate is judged on stats. What has Teo done that makes him the best linebacker in the country let alone the best player? He plays on ND, gets tons of exposure and hype, and has a sad story to tell. Other than that, hes not deserving of the hype

I've gotta go with Nick on this one.

Unfortunately, perception may be reality this year, because I can see a lot of the goof balls who vote for this pick the sad story.

  • Ill add that the kid plays MLB in a system where the MLB is designed to make plays. He should at least be in the top 20 in tackle stats and in the top 10 in his position to be considered the best at hs position let alone the best defender

Im not saying hes not a very good player but awards are given to the player who dominates his position and he was far from dominant.

By the way his stat #s were a complete fluke. Most of the time he was a spectator on the play and or trailign the receiver and had the ball bounce in his hands. Before this year he had all of ZERO pics.............FLUKE

Funny how you throw a back handed insult to your own team(if Teo can't even have a good game against Pitt, then he can't be any good). Heisman voters like to give the trophy to the player that showed up in big games. Pitt was 6-6 this year so they were not considered a big game for ND so it's irrelevant what Teo did or did not do versus Pitt.

Again, I just think making a judgement on how good a LB is simply by looking at their total tackle numbers is flawed. Chad Greenway currently leads the NFL in tackles but he wouldn't even be a starter if he played for San Francisco.

    kijana

  • Once again great players who win awards dominate at their position and its relfected in the stats. Teo isnt even in the top 10 at his position. And yes Pitts OL was not that good this year so Teo should have been more active that game. NOt saying he needed to be the stat leader but a MLB in a 4-3 defense who is the alledgedly the best player at his position should have had far more tackles than he had. Big time players make plays and it should be reflected in the stats that is unless you play for a hype machine and have a sad story to tell.

  • Screw it. Just another consolation prize for rural america .. mostly the southeast. The heisman keeps the hicks from rioting. Let em have it. We drive Ferraris.

  • Greatest defender to ever play vouches for him...

What do you think of Manti Te'o?

"I think he's an incredible athlete. He's the ringleader of a great defense. Everything he does, such as how he makes his checks makes me think he really understands the game, and that he studies film and his opponents a lot. That's very rare. Still, I would've liked to have seen him have that same kind of productivity his junior, sophomore and freshman years."

    Does he deserve the Heisman?

"I think he controls the game. I think he's worthy. We'll see if the scenario works out. I wish Te'o could be in a different situation because people really don't recognize defenders and their talents enough. If they did, I think he would win the Heisman."

  • One of the greatest defenses I ever played against had 2 NFL players on it in Dan Kreider and Jason Parmer. Both just owned kids with their size, speed, strength, and smarts.

Over a 13 game schedule, Kreider led the team in tackles w/ like 42.

Tackle stats are a joke - see Dat Nguyen.

  • What did you expect Green to say? Hes not going to say the kid is not deserving and having been screwed out of a Heisman himself, he'd have made similar comments about any defensive guy up for the award.

Teo wont be the first lb drafted and he may not even be a first round pick..Once again if he were not on TV every week and didnt play for ND people would be saying TEo who.

But then again TIno was supposed to be all BE and make a NFL roster/ LOL

  • OK i was wrong about him not being a worthy butkus candidate as his stats are comparable to other former winners although on the lower end. However the Heisman hype is way over the top. For a defensive player to be considered for the Heisman they shoud be far more dominant that he was. None of the other lbs who won the butkus were serioius heisman candidates.

  • Kijana is just sore about Todd "The Odd" Blackledge not getting the recognition he deserved. Another PSU joke- taken with the #7 pick in the first round while Danny Mia Marino was taken 25th. How's Blah Thomas doing? He was quoted the other day at Safeway------"Paper or plastic".
