Saw this posted on TOS. I'm not sure how precise his data is regarding fan support, but I think the overall premise is correct, which is why this stuff doesn't worry me. I also found it interesting that Pitt comes in at 37th nationally in fan support.

The first question about that article is, who does a google search for "college football"?
"First, I estimated the number of college football fans in each of the United States’ 210 media markets, multiplying their populations by a factor based on the number of people who conducted Google searches for the term “college football” in each area."
Yeah, I found that to be a little suspect as well, but apparently this guy is pretty good when it comes to statistical analysis and correctly predicted the presidential election most recently.
The overall message I took from it is this, adding Rutgers does nothing for the Big Ten unless they can get the cable provider to pick up their network on their basic package. Well if his analysis is in the ball park, and Rutgers only has a 3% market share in New York, then this could end up being a swing and a miss. Rutgers will bring in little to no revenue, but get a 1/14 share. If this continues for any length of time, it's not too difficult to imagine some other programs, like Penn State for example, getting disgruntled.
