Could PSU and OSU play an exhibition game?

  • Just curious if PSU or OSU could play on a neutral field, say Pittsburgh, and not have it count for the record books? Does that still fall under the NCAA santions?

    Nope.

I figured. It would be great for our area, especially with all the local revenue the NHL is costing Pittsburgh.

  • That would be completely against the rules............................they're probably working out the details as we speak.

Sort of related, Mark Madden (whom I despise) had a pretty decent column in the Beaver County times with regards to how Pittsburgh screws the pooch on big time revenue things. It was pretty micro-scaled, though. Talked about how the Riverhounds have built their new soccer stadium but were going to share it with women's football, and how painting football lines on the soccer-specific turf is going to screw up the experience. Went on to say how a big-time European soccer match at Heinz Field (which would've drawn international tourism and a crowd of around 25-30,000) had to be cancelled because the stadium was double-booked for the women's football championship game, which drew an attendance of about 800.

Those people all work for Aramark. In other words, many of the people who are losing revenue for not working Pens games could've worked the soccer game if it was staffed to meet demand. Instead, almost no concessions were open for the women's football game.

    Hail to Pitt.
