kerry cooks the co defensive coordinator at notre dame will be announced tuesday as pitt new coordinator.
the other guy called the plays at ND, so its a step up for him. he coached with chryst at wisconsin.
the ohio state fullback transfer, durham has been moved to d-end.
pitt lost the cb from ohio, hytche to kentucky.
hopefully pitt can land moody and kemp, we need help at dt and rb, plus another o-lineman or two.
Durham to end, really?
This team needs a fullback who packs some punch.
Is this a source or something?
Yeah, where did you hear the news about the Irish DC?
Agree, if Pitt is going to be a power running team, they need a better FB than Gubilato....If true about moving Durham, which I am not a fan of, then parrish better come in and start from day 1.
Unless Laquentin Smith is the new FB?
from watching yesterday, we need at least 5 OL in this class. and another 5 LB's.
good info, brian.

another lb or two wouldnt hurt but there will be 5 new faces at lb next year... rippy, bradley, porchia, caprara, and galambos. The first 3 are supposed to be very athletic and the latter 2 are supposed to be true middle linebackers
if the new dc is really kerry cooks i think that is a fantastic hire. Notre Dame, like many other schools, doesnt hire guys that cant recruit so you know hes good there. Plus he has a pretty impressive resume as a position coach
Getting Price back will help the LB corps. A starting unit of Price, Gordon and Thomas sounds pretty nice.
I hope to see major improvement from Grigsby as well.
Last night on a different site, a poster hinted that cooks from notre dame would be announced Tuesday.
Yup, and Peak is the one who postulates Durham will play DE next year. If thats where you got your information you shouldnt try to pass it off as your own. If you have your own independent sources, my apologies.
If this is true - and I wonder - then I think we'll see a lot of FR Jaymar Parrish at FB.
Durham to DE makes a lot of sense. He played there a lot in high school and most programs recruited him to play there or even LB. I caught one of his high school games where he played DE against a 4 or 5 star OL that went to Texas(Mason Walters) and this kid looked like he was going to be a strong player.
I agree. The need for DE is far greater than the need for a FB. The offense doesnt even use a FB on every down and Gubs while not spectacular was OK. If Durham can be productive at DE, he'll make a much bigger contribution there.
A "Real PITT MAN"............get off my porch!
I wonder where LaQuentin Smith will end up - DE or on the interior line?
i didnt get the coordinator thing or durham from peak. a friend texted me the info about cooks and durham. i think he got it from a players dad, because that is normally where he gets it.
some of you are to worried about who scoops who. i'm not in the scooping business. i'm a pitt fan, and alot of people text, e-mail, call and talk to me about pitt stuff, i'm just passing on the info.
another item is that tom ricketts has left the football team. i woke up to texts and e-mails from 5 different people about it, so i'm not scooping this either alot of people already knew before i woke up.
neither topic is 100% until it happens. for example, i posted that the browns or eagles may hire the PSU coach. well...it didnt happen, but the browns interviewed him pretty much before anyone else knew about it, but i knew about it. but...they didnt end up hiring him.

we need help at d-end badly. lets face it...shane hale saved us this year and that was close to a miracle since he didnt nothing for 4 years at pitt, clemmings was to slow and played poorly most of the year. murphy was so-so and injured again alot. without hales production, our d-end position would have been close to our OT production, which was close to terrible
this year. so i think furham could really help us because we need warm bodies at d-end at the very least.
by the way, they said murphy suffered a head injury at the bowl game. well he has already had several concussions and he is looking more like another guy who should step away from football. i hope the best for him though, i always liked him.
Ricketts sucks. I said it when he went to PSU and everybody on scout cried about losing a 4* legacy etc. The kid is soft and just not that good. If he wasn't at NA and had the last name Rickets, he'd barely be a 3*.
Now I know he battled injuries, and by no means am I happy for them to end his playing career. I wish him well in his education and hope he uses that to earn a paycheck like the rest of us do, but as fsr as football goes, he's not a loss.
i pretty much said the same things about ricketts.
i wasnt a fan of his dad's play either. he was drafted in the first round, but he wasnt that great at pitt and he was nowhere near the o-lineman that our past o-lineman like rueben, stepnoski, fralic, covert, may, grim, sweeney, etc were.
i wish him the best though, i think he suffered from being a spoiled kid a little bit and he fell into things that spoiled kids often fall into and i wont say anything more than that.
I didn't realize that Pitt is down th three defensive ends minus the incoming recruits.
Makes sense to move Durham and the coaches should consider LaQuentin Smith. He seems too small to play the interior and that position will have Terrell Jackson and Jarrett joining the mix. I suppose Render could move to end, too. I had Lippert as a kid moving on after the season, but the position needs bodies.
Did he become a brony?
That was a terrible draft for the Steelers in 1989. Worley and Ricketts. When Cowher took over in 1992 there should have been about five of Noll's first rounders who were in their prime and the nucleus the Bill's first few teams. Instead there was one, Woodson.
durham was going to get good minutes at de at osu from what i understand but he wanted to play offense and be closer to home. i feel bad for him but he should be a quality addition to the d line and a much needed one at that. i never understood why laquentin smith switched from lb as he wouldve been at worst the second string mlb or even first string olb ahead of eric williams but oh well. at 6'2" 265 i say have him drop 20 lbs and make him a rush end or a situational pass rushing olb. pitt needs all the edge rushers they can get. donald was the only guy that could get pressure on the qb. Thats why i feel like luke maclean and james conner could play early
In HS, I thought Durham played DE like Malecki played DT. Strong and active. Seemed to like to really get after it. If he's moving to DE, I wouldn't rule out him becoming a 3 tech.
No inside info but just pure speculation, I wouldn't be surprised if Donald enters the draft. Until the talent increases on the DL, he can't really showcase what he has. If he had Sheard or Greg, he'd probably be a 25 TFL guy. I'm not sure his stock can really rise any higher w/ the talent around him.
i think ezell will be a lot better next year and he did show some flashes this year in his first year of really getting any playing time. i hope donald comes back, we need him. same with street.
