not having his team ready to play (uconn, ysu), keep in mind that you could say the same thing about tomlin, a super
bowl winning coach. not only did it look that way yesterday against a poor san diego team, but it also happened against the raiders earlier in the season and the browns game two weeks ago.
it happens. it sucks when it happens to your team, but it happens to pretty much every team in college and the nfl.
the steelers played like they didnt want to be there yesterday.
That was a colussal bust yesterday. But Tomlin gets credibility (and Pitt would too) when you been to 2 Super Bowls (and won one of them) in your first 5 years of coaching.
That is the difference. A Pitt coached team seems to do this alot, without the upshot.

I can't wrap my brain around Tomlin. The Steelers are good for 3-4 really awful losses a year under him. They also play amazing when up against the best. I personally think he inherited some great players and rode them to some success but now they are getting older and can't maintain their level of play like they used to and his coaching has been exposed. Even worse, he and the Steelers scouting staff seem to have lost their touch in finding solid talent in the draft. Its difficult to name a good player under 30 on that roster.
The organization reminds me of the way the Steelers were in the early 80's.
come to mind, depending on how highly you want to grade the wide-outs. Some of the other linemen (Adams, who knows about DeCastro, maybe Cam Heyward) show promise as well.
Wallace's struggles have been well documented but has anyone else noticed how awful Pouncey has been this season? He got mauled yesterday and when he played G a few weeks ago (Cleveland?) he didn't have a single block the entire game and gave up a couple of TFL. Is he hurt? IMO he's the most disappointing player for us this season. Maybe I only notice when he's getting beaten and take for granted when he makes a nice block though.
How does an OL go through an entire game an not get one block?
I didn't see yesterday's game but Pouncey was fine at OG 2 weeks ago.
I was going to ask, where is the chap who was here last week telling us that Tomlin always has his team ready to play?
Losses to poor teams has turned into an alarming trend for the Steelers in the last few years.
It is really puzzling, given how well the Steelers seem to be prepared for the tougher opponents. But it's usually the offense that is the problem. I think they need a real running back. These big, slow, mauler-type runners got to go...
On the critical 4th down try yesterday, SD crowded the line because they had no fear of the Steelers running outside - there's no speed to run outside unless we put the 150-pounder in...
If a bomb dropped on Pittsburgh, what town and their people would you put down next?
I agree, although the last pitt coach to take over a pitt team loaded with talent was foge fazio after he took over for jackie.
of course we all know how they went.
The Steelers don't care about the regular season and the players are very vocal about it. They get up for the big games as they are the statement games and sleepwalk through the rest. Listen to how many of them say "all we want is a ticket to the dance, then anything can happen", "we won as a 6 seed before, we can do it again".
These guys think they can flip the switch whenever they want....can they? I guess we'll see if they can beat cincy and clev and fo in as #6.
"Loaded". The last WR Sherrill recruited of any significance was Collins and he wasn't even recruited as a WR! The game passed him and Foge by. Those guys were stuck in the 70's recruiting lineman and RB's. Hell... Foge ran the same 5-2 defense in 1985 that Majors's brought in '73.
No. Much like your absurd comment that the Steelers have no good players under 30, you are high. Pouncey is a beast.

Nothing wrong w/ the 5-2 they ran. It is virtually the same defense that Bellicheat ran in NY and later adapted by Wade Phillips.
