Why does it seem like every team shoots 80% or better from the FT line against us?
I can't believe Adams didn't get called for an over-the-back foul on the offensive rebound on the foul shot. And speaking of foul shots, he looks very uncomfortable at the line.
And the refs have officially taken over the game here at the end. Absolutely in no way was that a charge as Gardner was sliding, and now a little ticky tack garbage call before the inbounds.
Pitt is 13-26 from the foul line. 2-7 in OT. There's your game.

the panthers didnt so themselves any favors at the free throw line today
Tim Welch and Dean Gaudio said it all. We need more transition and less half court due to the zone defense that we cannot figure out. And we need our players to shoot or move the ball before the defender is on them. Welch said "they are holding the ball too long." Marquette moves quick and plays with urgency. It's not that we lacked intensity. It's that we ALWAYS lack intensity.
This game was lost by Pitt
1 Awful defensive rebounding effort.
2. Terrible Free throw shooting.
3. Pathetic effort (see #1 which is mostly effort and intensity and how many loose balls were there that they didnt go after)
4 SPotty coaching by jd. Just some really awful sub patterns and inability to light a fire under this team, Totally abandoned Adams in the second half and didnt go after Gardner at all
Oh well. We knew this team would have some ups and downs
A "Real PITT MAN"............get off my porch!
It could be a looooooooong couple of months.
I agree...the free throws are what did them in.
No reason to throw away the whole season as of yet...none at all. They are young, and will continue to improve.
Didn't watch any of the game, but maybe they are just not that good like last year?
With the pathetic non-conference schedule they have to win a min 9 conference games, with 10 being more realistic.
Looking at their remaining schedule, I don't see that being possible.
The NCAA tournament is not realistic at the moment. It's basically impossible unless something changes in our lineup and philosophy.
the game story is posted, btw
