buddy was at match, said we got handled pretty easy. Supposedly fans were booing because we forfeited at 125lbs. This lineup looks weak compared to last year.
So be it. To the victors go the spoils. PITT has done a great job in the sport. Congrats to PITT. i hate psu and nico.
31-7 was the actual final. PSU had a point removed.
And.........99% of the state could care less.
I care ........a little bit. Nico and jimmy come to PITT and I would care a lot more.
how are we supposed to compete when dopey psu alums give millions of dollars for wrestling. we have a pretty good program and should be happy about it. but wrestling is one sport we aren't going to beat psu.
now if they had WWE type wrestling as an NCAA sport, i think we'd do very well. would at least be ranked every year.
Considering PA is the #1 wrestling state in the nation, I'd think that estimate is a little high.
Pretty simple - recruit better. You don't need millions to be a top 5-10 team go see Edinboro, Lehigh, Cornell, VT, Central Michigan, etc. Hell, back when I was growing up schools like Clarion were top 10 every year. These schools don't fund fund the 9.9 scholarships the NCAA allows.
Even at PSU, they have 40 kids on the roster and have to divide those scholarships up. THe majority of kids don't get money.
It is. And I apologize for my diatribe against Wrestling. I hated it in gym class, just not a fan of the sport. But PA is the wrestling mecca.
The only reason why I am doing this is payback to all those people who when someone posts something about hockey they have to interject something to try and minimilize it. My comments to that is probably the same of you wrestling fans towards my posts on wrestling. If you don't care and don't like it, don't read and comment. And you would be right to those comments.
Just trying to give back some of the same medicine. I hope I made my point.

well, there is a difference. you post about a professional team on a pitt board. these guys are talking about a team affiliated with the university. so there's that.
I like Rande but if Pitt got a stud wrasslin' coach, this program could go toe to toe with anyone...
We had HS wrestling from St. Ed's (Cleveland) posted on here. Okay? I would think there just might be a bit more interest in hockey on the campus of Pitt than that.
Not buying this BS Owt. Just admit you're ignorance to the fact of Pa wrestling dominance.
hs wrestling is relevant since we recruit kids from those places. there's got to be other places to post about the pens. i personally don't care about posts that are irrelevant to me. but since you inquired, i figured i'd explain why others get upset.
You couldnt be more wrong.
Who is "you?" And, what are they wrong about?
owtahear couldnt be more wrong that 99% dont care.
Its a sport where folks dont go around gloating as much as they do in the team sports.
Yea, I heard it was because Nico had a ton of family and friends in attendance to see him wrestle.
It's a interesting pinning rivalry Wilps and Wright have going on. It should make for an interesting NCAA tourney should they meet up again.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
Greg has built this board to provide comprehensive coverage of everything related to Pitt, including olympic sports and academics.
Personally, I have no problem with hockey posts either. One of Pitt's mottos is the "City is our campus" and the school embraces it. Heck, a lot of the Pens are fans of Pitt sports and there is interaction between the club and the athletic department. But really, many Pitt fans are naturally going to be fans of the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and things in the city impact the university.
On the flip side, Pitt wrestling is certainly relevant to the University of Pittsburgh and the Pitt athletic department. Heck, it is actually generating some revenue this year. It is traditionally Pitt's 3rd or 4th most successful sport.
BTW, speaking of hockey, a lot of people are going to love this image.
And check out the cool goalie pads on the D2 team (currently ranked 10th in D2).

C. Paco, is it because hockey is a club sport that the kids get to choose their own uni?
yes, although they still have to get the design approved.
so were there any good taunts against the PSU faithful? I heard when PSU played Mercyherst in woman's hockey the crowd was pretty brutal with some Sandusky related barbs. And this coming from a religous school.
