How about All League QB's w/ regards to context..
With regards to camp QB's.. There are oodles of guys who aren't recent college QB's who are in camp as well. The Troy Smith's, Dennis Dixon's, etc are always wondering around as FA's who always seem to be him camps.
I don't think all "all-league" QB's are equal. Being all-league in an 8-team BE this season is not impressive but I do think he'll get a sniff from the NFL.
As I said before though, while its a mild accomplishment which will net him an NFL helmet for his future gameroom, he has absolutely zero shot at ever playing in a regular season game and will more than likely never get a snap in even a preseason game.
I think I understand what you are saying though. Some people are saying rediculous things like "Tino is a DII QB!" Well, DII QB's don't get all conference nods, regardless of conference and DII QB's don't get signed to NFL camps. Tino has nothing to apologize to anyone for. He was a 3-year starter for a BCS-level college football program and will have a winning record. Folks can debate the stats but atleast his stats are debatable. If I ever meet him in person, I'd be happy to shake his hand and thank him for the effort. The kid deserves respect IMO.
You truly have no clue what you are talking about? The 35-10 game against WVU solely on Tino? Are you serious? The Cuse game this year where he was kidding blindsided, and hit as soon as he dropped back? The 2009 NC State game?????? THAT WAS BILL STULL YOU MORON.
Curtismartinfail of the century.
Who tripled clutched at halftime and literally burned all the remaining time on the clock...was that then Cincy game this yr? I cant recall....Sunseri stunk face it.
I'm with you on this. For way too many PITT fans a kid either has to be a star or he's not worth anything.
The "Div II QB" statements really make me scratch my head. There are a lot of Div I teams who would have welcomed Sunseri's 2013 play and production.
Again, what some PITT fans can't grasp is that while Sunseri isn't a 'star' DI QB he's still certainty worthy of being on a DI roster and playing D1 football.

This is the point I'm trying to make that was illustrated fairly well above. To say he sucks and is D2 QB is just laughable. Like I said, I would never use even the 2012 Tino Sunseri as the barometer for the QB we should use as the barometer. However, I would use the 2012 Tino Sunseri as the prototype for what you want out of a QB with limitations at both the QB and OL play.
CMART - thanks for the NC State and WVU laughs in 09 and '10.
lets put it this way....Sugar Ray ranks #2 at Pitt all-time in rushing...was he truly the 2nd best back at Pitt? No I dont think so but Pittsburghers still will remember him as one of the great ones.
Sunseri will probably end up #2 all-time in Pitt passing....was he truly the 2nd best QB in Pitt history? Hell no. Pittsburghers wouldn't even put him in the top 10.
If you play long enough, you can get the stats but some stats come from greatness...while others...just attempts.

Not in the top ten? Sunseri doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the top anything of all-time Pitt football players.
I think this sums it up .. i stole yet another comment from TOS:
"My doctor said I should be okay once Tino graduates~
Seriously ….. how did they get a 50 year old man in Tino’s body? He may be the least athletic QB I have ever seen! I challenge him to a 40 yard dash."
thank you 9nationalchampionships -- i could not have said it any better
Tino might have a shot at WV in a bowl brawl game. If he loses that game then i could see most of his apologists turning on him .. and at the very least .. they won't be able to stand up to the criticism any longer. If he wins the game then he'll be loved and forgiven and the numerous bonehead plays throughout his career will be warmly remembered.
Tino has absolutely zero future in the NFL. He'll never sniff a practice squad and it's preposterous to even discuss it.
He stinks and he's small. Basically, he's got nothing the NFL is interested in.
Exactly Gibsonia. There are some "Pitt fans" who accept crap....lets face it...some of these are the same folks who think Stevie P is a good AD.
Who said he might make a practice squad? Who is smoking that gooood stuff!? If we go to NYC then i might need me some of that gewwwd stuff.
Yeah .. Tino has zero that can translate to the NFL. He does have a future in hollywood with that bad A limp of his. He could be an extra in a remake of Platoon n'at.
We get it. You will be playing the stat card here on into next year and beyond all because of your man crush on Tino. This just in the rest of the Pitt nation is glad his tenure is almost over.0-12 when Pitt is behind at half. The master of the self induced 30 yard sack. God you need to give up the stat bs
Yeh Tino managed a 30 yard sack.. Just a little reminder of everything we loathed in tino
There is a reason why some people .. some talking points .. some topics .. are lightning rods.
It's not for nothing that Tino draws this much negative attention. Sure .. many things factor in on why a team loses. But he's a big reason why.
Every single QB at PITT since Pistol Pete's 1997 season has garnered more negative attention than positive.
If you want to claim making third team all big east in a conference with crappy QBs is some great accomplishment, the I guess the standards are pretty low.
Also as GIbby said, Tino has not chance of sniffing a practice squad.. zero. He may get signed at some point to be a warm body to throw passes as most teams do but thats it. I think thats even a long shot.
A "Real PITT MAN"............get off my porch!
I foresee arena league in this kids future, confusing says. Tank shoo very muuch.
There are no 3rd team players. Nassib and Bridgewater are locks to getting inked to an NFL deal.
well Since Bridgewater and Nassib have first and second team locked up Tino doesnt have a snowballs chance at being an all league QB.............nor will he be on a practice squad......
We can simplify this.
Tino: not a great QB. Learned to avoid making mistakes, which made stats look reasonable, though the stats suffer from serious selection problems. Divisiveness made interpretation of ambiguous stats a bit more contentious than usual.
I look forward to seeing the next QB. We have little reason to jeer Tino, but we have little reason to cheer him.
The above post is a very good reflection of my thoughts.
The int stat doesn't do much for me because he never, ever threw a ball into even remote coverage.
But, he certainly played well enough to win 8 games with a flawed team. And he certainly was durable.
I am excited to see someone new.
I am excited
i think this is accurate perhaps if he were more of a standup guy his shortcomings would be more tolerable.
