I don't THINK anyone thinks Saban is paying kids himself. But, you are the fanbase of Harvey Updike. You f***ers are crazy, so I don't think it is out of the question to think a booster would pay a recruit.
Actually, Prez, I think the point we're trying to make is that you're assuming Foster had a change of heart, when in fact you really have no idea what was in his heart. The fact that it's pretty much been shown that Foster was telling multiple relatives multiple things makes that pretty clear. And while Bama's reputation hasn't been squeaky clean in the past, Nick Saban's certainly has. All you have to do is look at Saban's first year when the textbook problem was discovered and he immediately suspended five players...including two starting offensive linemen, one of whom was an All-American center...the morning of the game against our second biggest rival, Tennessee. A game which Alabama ended up winning decisively, by the way.
If we are going to get the sequence of events correct, he told everyone wednesday. And he told family. So if a family member was the one that initiated the "illegal contact" there was plenty of time.
And let's not talk about the walk on that you have starting for you haha.
That's like us saying that you f***ers are the citizenry of Jerry Sandusky. You want to think we're all like Updyke, go ahead. We'll just think that all of you Pennsylvanians like to f**k little boys in showers. Seriously, do you really want to go down that road?
Oh, I believe the kid wants to go to 'Bama. Where the change of heart came in was it did not outweigh wanting to stay home.
I listen to too much Finebaum, LOL.
Rogue boosters exist everywhere. However, whether a program admits it or not, they usually know when one is interfering with a recruit. Saban has/will cut rogue boosters off at the knees. So the number at Bama is likely a lot smaller than at other places, because the punishment is so severe. So if there are boosters left, they would be low dollar (like $100). Which wouldn't be enough to sway any recruit Bama goes after.
Thanks for helping to make our point. We shelled out so much money for big time recruits that we blew all of our slush fund on some players and ended up having to start a guy who didn't even get a scholarship? A kid that no one else wanted? We pay top dollar for the best players...yet we end up having to start a guy no one else wanted? Is that what you're trying to say?
This is a valid point. All you have to do is take a look at how Saban and the athletic department dealt with the mens store owner they had an issue with. Cut him off at the knees.
Fair point...but my point is that how could anyone know what was in his heart? When a kid says different things to different relatives over the course of the process, it becomes impossible to know what's in his heart. He may have had his own reasons for saying one thing to one relative and another thing to another relative.
Joke of an article.
Even if you buy a nice car, it's still possible it can be a piece of crap.
I haven't accused anyone of paying players in this thread, I was correcting the timeline. And if we are both talking about Vinnie Sunseri, the reason I said let's not talk about him because he is a Sunseri. They've caused much angst among the Pitt fanbase lately.
Actually Vinnie is on scholarship, always has been (and he's awesome, unless hes failing to cover a slot receiver). We're talking about Kelli Johnson.
Yeah, I know what you mean! Seriously, when he first came on Sirius, I thought there was no way there would be a national market for his show. He has great guests, but the callers are stooges. I didn't think there was any way he could build a national audience for the Jerry Springer part of his show, and the next thing you know, he starts getting callers from all over the country.
That is exactly my point - no one knows anything. To dismiss the idea that he really wanted to go to Bama, or to dismiss the idea that a booster could have slipped some $$$$ is some serious burial of heads in the sand.
No head coach has as much control over their program that has been implied in this thread.
You must not be familiar with Nick Saban. What he says goes down here. Honestly believe if he supported any politician for any office in Alabama, that person would win in a landslide.
1. I don't think Bill Gates would drive a used Nissan, especially if you gave him four years to shop.
2. As the other poster mentioned, Kelly Johnson is the walk-on who sometimes starts.
Sal has been an interesting topic of conversation among Bama fans the last few months also. Been pretty difficult for some fans to watch him crash and burn at Tennessee, even if we did take pleasure in watching Tennessee lose.
Ah ok. Sorry about that.
Look Foster chose Bama!!! He's a kid and going to Bama is a pretty big deal for a young guy. They are the top team in CFB right now and lets just wish him luck. Money could be involved in anything but until it comes out 5 to 10 years later I'm just going to assume he wanted to play at the top school in the top conference!!!
Also Foster chose Bama in December which isn't LOI day. He might have a change of heart. It seems like every year a couple commits in every class switch last minute.
So, I may be missing something here but, he texts he "needs to get this money" when he (by you guys admission) has his mind set on going to Pitt, then at the last minute he changes his mind and Bama Paid him?? That don't make no sense!!
Nick Saban would never risk the program for one player. We have won two of the last three national championships going for three of four. No logic!!!
And we finally get to the root of the problem.
Lets just look at this for a second. Bama is not hurting for WR at all. We have them stacked. Sure, Foster is elite, but he is not a make or break recruit for us. If we were gonna pay any one it would be an (or 2) elite DT maybe an LT. We know our roster and trust me, WR is the last concern we had before Foster. We have lost out on numerous elite DT and OL. Quite frankly we as Bama fans shake our heads in disbelieve we can not get that elite, can't miss DT like Clowney.
I'm guessing that means he thinks he will get better exposure in bigger games at Alabama!!! He might be right but he might not start next season at Alabama. He would've got a ton of action in Pittsburgh.
