FACT: Alvarez and Chryst have a plan .. and it was somewhat foiled by Arkansas. But essentially Alvarez wanted Chryst to gain head coaching experience .. with the idea he is the coach in waiting for the Wiscy job. Chryst absolutely knows this. They aren't sleezy enough to screw Pitt over after a year .. but screw us over they will. They aren't really bad guys .. with zero integrity. But they certainly aren't transparent and consistent. Commitment? Yeah .. for now. A lie of ommision.
I hate when people label opinion as fact. You have no facts.
Not everything is a conspiracy. You are going off the deep end on this one.
You mean OPINION: and a garbage one at that
Timing isn't right? Come on. This is not cool. Alvarez is an ego maniac and Chryst is his boy. It's a joke. We need new leadership to take control of this freaking thing and bring in a guy who wants the job .. with no reservations .. no "timing" issues .. and no need to ask Wisconsin for permission to stay at Pitt.
But .. am i pleased PC is staying for a couple more years? Hell yes. It's great news. But only a temporary fix. If it bridges the gap of this lame duck administration then i'm all for it.

Yeah, no. absolutely bad idea.
Chryst may be hear for 5 years or 20. Who knows? You don't. And this conspiratorial stuff is goofy.
Suggesting we only use PC as a bridge to a "Pitt" guy is one of the worst ideas I could imagine someone coming up with.
If PC is successful, we need him to stay as long as possible, whether he leaves for another gig eventually or not.
Do you not mind the "timing wasn't right" comment?
No. It was honest.
Five years out, it might be better timing, but Wiscy will still have to have an opening and by then PC will be even more entrenched with his family in Pittsburgh. Who knows, if PC is actually a coach that Wiscy would be interested in five years from now, then Pitt will have likely been built into a pretty good program with more financial wherewithall. Remember, PC's already 47 and Alvarez is 65 (and will be 66 later this month).
In this business, you are always going to have the possibility of coaches leaving, even if they are alumni. Rich Rod still left WVU. There are no guarantees. You hold on to good people as long as you can and that is all you can do. I'm much more worried about Pitt shooting itself in the foot than Paul Chryst becoming a hot commodity down the line.

RIch Rod .. oh lordy .. that guy had PTSD thanks to 13-9. That's an exceptional situation but i will give you that it's a possibility to lose any good coach. However, i know for sure you don't hire guys who are likely to leave. There are plenty of good western PA minds out there to select from. And i agree that if PC is here in five years (hell .. even two years .. which is my prediction of when he'll leave) then Pitt will be ready to pull the trigger on a great head coaching replacement .. and we'll have new leadership and a new conference .. a new lease on life. This is a great bridge for us .. and if it's a long-term solution then even better! Just saying that i don't like the language i've seen .. and Alvarez isn't this golden god everyone makes him out to be. I'll keep my opinions (facts) to myself on this matter from here out.
Chryst will be at Pitt longer than two years unless Pitt fires him.
He is more than a bridge.
Wiscy is an exceptional circumstance for Chryst. He's not going to run off for a lateral move like Todd Graham.
You need to relax more on this.
As far as being relaxed .. that's a done deal. I'm very pleased with PC staying. I've never been more optimistic about Pitt football. I believe we will finish with a great recruiting class and increase our win total next year. We finally got "lucky" at the right time .. as we limp out of the Big East .. another year in that conference would have killed us.
Louisville is the school that hit the jackpot. This time last month, there was zero chance of UL ever getting an ACC bid. You think they would have held onto Strong if they were stuck in the BE?
Yes, you have it all figured out with your facts versus 100 years of research. Why don't they close all those stupid institutions when the can just ask you?
"I am better off than he is,—for he knows nothing, and thinks that he knows. I neither know nor think that I know. In this latter particular, then, I seem to have slightly the advantage of him."
^ one of my favorite quotes .. so let's just agree to disagree .. because honestly .. 100 years of a subjective "science" is pretty underwhelming. Let's take a real science (objective in nature) with actual laws .. like physics .. and look at how it progressed after 100 years of existence.
Yeah .. my child is being tested for asperger's, which was made official in 1994 (DSM-IV) .. officially part of a junk science that can't make up its mind about whether someone is "high functioning" or "normal." Bahhhh.
