UL makes fsu happy and is as an athletic institution step up from Maryland. Adding uconn would be a mistake.
They need to look past the academics for once. The only reason they want uconn is cause of their academics and basketball. UL has a great bball program and football is taking off.
I agree totally. Academics is nice, but if they keep valuing it above all else we will be playing cornell in a couple years.
Does Pitt have anything the sec would want? I tend to think its not as crazy as it sounds. Am I fooling myself?
Thank you. Let's stop fooling ourselves with this faulty academics ideals or Pitt will be sitting in a conference with Duke, Wake, Virginia and Navy.
What if they don't want to join?
If I were them, I might wait to see if FSU leaves for the Big 12. If so, that would be a much more stable situation than the ACC would be.
It would give them access into PA, but if I am them NC & VA are higher on the list for a lot of reasons.
Agree, add Ville. It's not even debatable.
The SEC doesn't and won't ever have any interest in Pitt. They can take whomever they want from the ACC or Big 12.
Agreed. Its a no brainer. In fact, its time to beat the others to the punch and expand to 16 and include UCOnn and RU or someone else.
A "Real PITT MAN"............get off my porch!
UL can't cut it academically for ACC standards. ACC not in a hurry to replace MD because the piece of the pie just got bigger for everyone else in the ACC. If ESPN coughs up more money to the ACC to expand again you can bet it will be for UCONN to join since ESPN is headquartered in Bristol Conn.
Conference expansion isnt about academics. If the ACC leadership still thinks Academics are important, then this conference is doomed to be a doormate like the Big least
Storrs Connecticut and Bristol Connecticut .
It's not as if Uconn is an academic paherhause. Good grief.
Yes, I understand that. The question is, why would ESPN care just because UConn is close to their headquarters?
And furthermore, why would ESPN get to dictate who the ACC adds? WTH has ESPN done for the ACC? The relatively small amount that the ACC gets in its TV contract is part of the problem.

True that. If ESPN really had any power in such things, the Hurricanes would still be the Whalers.
As a side note, I've seen plenty of Whalers jerseys in the stands at Canes games, BTW.
Honestly you don't realize that ESPN controls the ACC. ESPN was upset that the Big East wouldn't sign a new deal. ESPN went to the ACC and instructed ACC to expand and that ESPN would re-open the contact making it worth their while.ESPN wanted to punish BE for tuning down the TV contract. ESPN wanted Syracuse and Conn. When the ACC got behind closed doors to settle further expansion BC blocked Conn admission . ACC fell back to Pitt as a replacement still punishing BE.
Lville is not going to make FSU happy.
FSU has too much pride to sit by as Rutgers cashes in. FSU is gone baby. Welcome to the new Big East.
