Boyd Ponders Army Announcement

Pittsburgh could be in line to land a major commitment during Saturday's U.S. Army All-America Bowl in Tyler Boyd.

  • Seems like maybe he is trying to add a little suspense to his recruiting because its pretty clear he favors Pitt.

  • I don't know. Seems like every time I read quotes from him he is mentioning Chavas Rawlins and when he mentions WVU he talks about playing right away which he may not do at PITT.

If he's everything he thinks he is and can't get PT at Pitt as a true freshman, that's on him - especially if Street would leave (which I doubt).

Even if Foster flipped, he could still end up prepping. So, there's no reason Boyd couldn't carve out a receiving niche for himself and possibly impact the return game. It would be a case of his natural talents being able to overcome inexperience at the receiver position, especially at the college level.

However, his initial transition to full time receiver is going to be an adjustment wherever he goes, but I think Engram would be the best receiving coach he could have and I have to think he is taking that into consideration with Pitt.

Let's get another receiver to "Foster the People" like AB!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get him but not holding my breath - to mix metaphors.

  • I have a hard time believing he wouldn't see the field as a freshman. Probably needs to get stronger but he has too much talent.

  • I think Boyd is more physical and stronger than Foster. I think Foster is more athletic, faster and has better hands. I think the hands will come around with Boyd once he dedicates himself to WR.

These two would have been perfect compliments to each other. oh well.

Rawlins is the one and only thing that has me a little concerned. Aside from that, I think Pitt will be his choice. Hopefully the collapse of WVU towards the end of the season will steer him from there even if his good friend Chavas goes there.
