Board rule proposal

  • Here it is fellas, I want yinz all to mull this over. I would like to see a one day ban, just a one day ban, to anyone in this constant conference realignment paranoia posts, whenever referencing fits or suggested teams that when someone says "they don't meet the academic requirements" that this automatically gets a one day ban.

Why? Because I am sorry, and they are getting better about this, but there is nothing, nothing, nothing concerning academics in this. NOTHING. Zero. Nada. So, the one day bans is like a shock collar. After 4-5 of these, then you will realize it is about markets, football, fanbase and success in that order.

Whether or not one school is aligned with another school because of a great research program on the use of gnat wings in cold medicine is completely irrelevant and nonpending.

You don't get banned on this board. You get BLACK LISTED! LOL!! What a term huh? black listed. Sounds a bit racist to me. "You have been Black Listed from the site" they told me. It was a weighty issue. moon

  • How many TV sets did WV add to the B12? like 3 or 4?

They say you can see Morganhole from outer space after a wvu win. The burning couches can be seen as far away as Mars. The stench only reaches the Moon though.

Agree again Owt. Academics? Academics? What academics? Are you kidding me? Academics?

    waltspappy

  • I agree with OWT. I actually had Paco explain to me that academics $$$ is not shared by the conferences, so who gives a F about it. Schools are on their own for building an academic rep, it's not built by the conference allignment. In all my time in a corporate office, i've never heard anyone say, hey person X has an ACC or B10, PAC 10 education etc.....well besides ivy league schools

  • I don't pretend that academics and conference matter in any kind of meaningful way. But, an awful lot of people on the board like the old line that "perception is reality." And, just on a brand level, better company is preferred to worse company. It's not a huge deal, but it's nice all the same. Lord knows Big 10 folks---who drink their conference's kool-aid from the brim to the dregs---like touting their conference's academics and their partnerships.

It's bar-room debate that doesn't mean much, but really, isn't that a lot of what we talk about?

    shruggs

  • Shruggs. I was yapping about this board yesterday with a good friend. The separation from top to bottom on this board is unmeasurable. As much as you would like to think different.

Sorry, I don't follow. Separation of what?

I don't know. And that is a really justifiable expansion/realignment topic. Of course, like most of the times on these boards, a poster completely misses the mark on the post and focuses on the most trivial comment.

Admit it, you thought the subject matter of my post was "WVU to the ACC"?

This folks is why America is doomed.

Actually, I thought you were being a jackass, which is why i replied with a jackass comment. Guess I missed it.

Vanderbilt's academic rep is not hurt one iota by sharing affiliation with Alatarda or the Mississippi schools. Stanford is Stanford despite sharing a conference with Wazzou or Arizona State.

    owtahear

  • totally agree. Academics are nothing but a BS excuse that some people believe factor into conference membership. It clearly does not.

Those are reasonably known brands, and they're both private. I wasn't trying to say that Stanford benefits from Pac-12 membership. But, all else equal, it's generally a nice thing to be in good company. At the very least, it's not a negative. It's marginal, obviously.

It's just something to talk about now and again. AND MAKE PRETTY PLOTS ABOUT.

The posters who unbelievably think they are smarter than the next joe posting. There is ZERO difference.

Shruggs. If you are so much smarter than anyone else on this board why don't you converse with other people as smart as you? Take your smoke and blow it out your bum.

I can't get past your begging to become a mod on TOS a while back. Pathetic to say the least. Please draw us all a stick figure so we can all LOL. bow

    Edit. I notice you're on all 3 message boards. I'm on 2. So who's the dumb-ass?

No you really don't but that's OK with me. I don't post on sports message boards to impress anyone. I'm on here because I hate TV, listen to music and love PITT, all at the same time. The real PITT. Not some smiley face jerk-off like steve.

You think you know me but you really have NO idea. There is not, and will never be any common ground between you and me.

I respect those that have came and gone before me and after. You're disrespectful, thus you get No respect from me. Learn your place in this world. I know your smart enough to understand that.

We're better academically, than Alabama. That's why we don't want to be in the SEC.

    The Big10 is beneath us.

We're better than the SEC academically. That's why we won't join.
