Realizing he and Chryst are best friends, this wasn't a surprise to Chryst IMO. So no doubt he is/was prepared as this went down and has a plan. We just see the end results of no doubt ongoing private conversations. The good news is this is only February and there is plenty of time.
If my best friend came to me and said he had an opportunity to coach in the NFL and have a big increase in salary, I would tell him to seek it out. In the meantime I am organizing for the next step.
As I suggested this wasn't a surprise to Chryst and he responded quickly:
The University of Pittsburgh Official Athletic Site, partner of CBS College Sports Networks, Inc. The most comprehensive coverage of Pitt Panthers athletics on the web.
www.pittsburghpanthers.comI don't know how my feelings are on this. When PC was hired, I pretty much slated Rudolph in as the OC, but then they brought in Bostad.... I wasn't sure what to make of that, but when they brought in Rudolph... this made me feel uneasy about Bostad, because why would Rudolph come here if it wasn't for a promotion???
Another thing, is this a case of Pitt and Steve P being cheap? How can a coach go from an offensive coordinatior position (even at college) and turn into a position coach in the NFL. You would have to think a college coordinator at a BCS school would make more than a position coach right?
Easy answer to fill the RB/QB coach position is Alex Van Pelt - who was just hired by the Packers to be their RB coach.
My buddy Papagator down in VA sent me this email after I told him we should go after Foreman like he suggested...
I wish someone could get to Chryst/Rudolph about Foreman. Also, there's an assistant
at Delaware, Brian Ginn, would love to see him get consideration as QB coach. Brian
grew up around here, played his college ball at Delaware, he recruits, Delaware,
Virginia and Easter PA for them. Team him up with Foreman in the recruiting trail,
and that could be a plus for PITT, and they are both excellent position coaches, please
get someone to get to Chryst, these would be excellent hires.
A little bit. Junko handles a lot of calls about looking at certain players etc. I am not sure it would work if he would call but I think Junko might be his best bet. I would also add that a lot of times coaches want to bring in guys that they know and have a history with.

Burgh - this is why I'm skeptical..
"You take every bit of info you can get, and run with it,
although as Mike London told me years ago, coaches have to be careful of the
"so called friends of the program". There are so many NCAA rules they have to be
very careful, thus it could come back and bite them in the ass. "
I'd wouldn't return this guys calls until I was absolutely sure there wouldn't be problems.
