The Panthers' inaugural ACC schedule will start with a bang next season. They will have to get real good, real fast to compete next year. The conference will finalize the dates and times in February.
Pitt will host conference foes Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, and Virginia and will travel to Duke, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.
The Panthers have been assigned to the Coastal Division along with Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
They will play these opponents each year along with Syracuse and an annual rotating crossover opponent each year as well. Next year Florida State is the crossover foe.
In addition, Notre Dame is coming to Heinz Field on Nov. 9 along with opening day against Villanova (Aug 31), Navy (Oct. 26), and New Mexico (Sept. 14), which is coached by former Pitt assistant and Notre Dame head coach Bob Davie (Coraopolis native).
This is Pitt's most-competitive football schedule in years as the Seminoles were ranked as high as no. 8 and finished with a 12-2 record last year including an Orange Bowl win. The Irish were ranked as high as no. 1 last season and played for the national championship. It was their only loss of the 2012 season.
