Quick Hitters - Paul Chryst

Paul Chryst stressed first that he wanted to get bigger and more athletic and he felt that they were able to do that with this class.

Paul Chryst understandably is excited about this class and especially Belle Vernon's Dorian Johnson.

Carson Baker - Wanted to get bigger and he is (6-5/300) came to just about every game and wanted to be a Panther.

Chris Blewitt - Best kicker he had at camp. Felt he was truly one of the best kickers in the country

Tyler Boyd - Unbelievable player. Very talented and highly competitive. He is a tremendous person. He is a winner and can impact the offense in a number of ways. Excited to have that winning attitude that the Clairton kids bring.

Zach Challingsworth - Jumped out at summer camp. He is young, but fit everything we were looking for in a receiver.

TraVon Chapman - We knew about him for a long time and we tracked him. Very pleased to have him.

James Conner - Jumped out at camp as a defensive end. He will start out as a running back and just as a football player. He was the measuring stick when we evaluated running backs. We just asked ourselves is this kid better than James?

Devon Edwards - He is a big athlete. Saw him play basketball and he was impressive. Feel good with him at tight end, but he is still growing.

Matt Galambos - His tape jumped out at us. He is a great person from a great family and we feel that he is a special player.

Reggie Green - Tall, long athlete who will start out at receiver. Very good hoops player had a brother who played big time basketball. Tremendous athlete.

Tony Harper - Start out as a tight end. Came to camp and Joe Rudolph got to evaluate him and he just jumped out.

Rachid Ibrahim - Safety, we just kept watching his film and felt he was a special kid. Comes from a great family and is a heck of a player.

Tyrique Jarrett - Big, big, athletic lineman. He has a great personality and its easy to fall in love with him as a persona and as a player.

Dorian Johnson - Film is as good as you will see. Great family and we have tracked him since he was a freshmen when we were at Wisconsin.

Jaryd Jones-Smith - A ton of potential. Mom is a great lady and hard worker and you can tell he gets that from her.

Luke Maclean - Linebacker, but projects as a defensive end. He is a tough guy with a high motor, just a special player.

Justin Moody - The coaches at the All-Star game he was in couldn't say enough about him.

Alex Officer - Smallest of the linemen at (6-4/300), very intelligent and he understands the game.

Scott Orndoff - Felt like they were recruiting him for three and half years. Glad to have him for spring ball. He was as good as they have seen on film.

Jaymar Parrish - FB/TE, he is a football player. He is a leader and just a special kid. Very good wrestler until he got hurt at the end of the season. He competes and we like that.

Zach Poker - We have known about him for a couple of years. He is still growing, currently a tight end/outside linebacker. Big athlete and that is what we want. Watched his senior tape and he really matured. Great student.

Aaron Reese - First fax at 7:01 a.m., he will be rewarded accordingly. Great family. Very hard worker and a big, athletic player.

Shakir Soto - Wears a size 17/18 shoe, he is a puppy that isn't done growing. He was a leader when it came to recruiting. He has a great personality and a lot of potential.

Jeremiah Taleni - We tracked him and saw his senior film and he was an explosive player. Heck of a football player. He has a spirit, there's just something about him. You always worry with a kid going that far from home, but he has a vision and he gets the big picture.

Jester Weah - Tracked since he was a freshman. He came to camp and then drove out to a game. He wanted to be here. His school has had a lot of D-I basketball players, but coach felt like he was the best athlete he has had.

Terrish Webb - He was the leader of his team, the glue. He competes and he makes the team better.

Ryan Winslow - Fortunate from a numbers standpoint to be able to bring in a kicker and punter. He is a very good athlete, especially at basketball.

Titus Howard - Watched the tape and felt he was equally as good on offense and defense. He is long and will start at cornerback. We had him ranked as the No. 1 cornerback on our board.

Chryst was asked if he was worried about losing Tyler Boyd
-Felt that they had good dialogue with Boyd and Bobby Engram. There was a lot of buzz around Boyd and he earned that. Felt good about what he was saying and what they were saying to him.

Chryst said three weekends basically made the class.
-We had three big weekends with eight to ten recruits and their parents. We had a lot of good people here. After the first group we sat back and said we liked them all and would like to have them all. The second group was the same and so was the third. We felt like if we could get all those kids together we would have something pretty special here.

Chryst was asked about the spring game.
-The game will be played April 12 at Bethel Park High School. It will be a Friday night game.
