St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio is well known for producing very good football prospects, for Pitt including guys like Chris Sestilli, and Joe Thomas among others over the years. This year St. Edward High School is the home of highly regarded wrestler Edgar Bright.
Bright currently wrestles at the 145 pound weight class, and was recruited to Pitt to wrestle at 141 pounds or 149 pounds.
"Pitt was close to home, and I really loved the coaches, especially Coach Jason Peters, who is like a Father figure and seems to always be there if I need to talk to him", Bright said.
Who did Bright choose Pitt over? "I chose Pitt over offers from Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska, and Michigan."
"I took an unofficial to Pitt in July, then my official in October, they showed me around the campus, and I really loved it, Pitt was an easy decision for me", Bright said.
"I really like the academic support that Pitt offers, they can keep me on target."
Bright told Panther 247, that he thought his career record is 95-15. Currently Bright is ranked 1st in the State of Ohio at 145 pounds, and 4th Nationally.
Bright finished 6th in the State of Ohio as a freshmen, and second as a sophomore and junior.
Does Bright have any goals? "I want to win the State Championship this year and then keep setting higher goals, but I need to take them one step at a time", Bright said.
Bright says he is not looking to red shirt, he plans to be able to compete right away.
